dropthattaco 12-04-2007, 06:51 PM Did you work at Lexus of Carlsbad??
Speed Freek 12-04-2007, 08:46 PM Yes, I worked at Lexus and also worked at Toyota on the "V6 team" doing all the recall head gasket problems on the 3.0. It was a long time ago, over 7 years ago now, been working for myself since then. Do you live near here? Or did you used to?

That could be a lot of different things I have seen that a lot with the valves getting tight, how many miles do you have and do you drive hard? First check and make sure all hoses under hood are plugged in (you have probably looked but make sure). These motors are a pain to do the valves in because it requires measuring clearances removing the camshafts and replacing shims. Just to check them is kinda involved. Also unplug and replug most of you electrical connectors, like coils and maf sensor....might be a bad connection, hope this helps.
HiTTman 12-04-2007, 09:08 PM THIS MUST BE A SIGN... lol
Have you ever fab up a Prerunner bumper before?

Yep I can make whatever you want. I can only make it with angles, broke my bender, angles look better anyway....The bumper can be made several ways with or without skid plate with or without light tabs and other stuff, PM me and we can figure it out. :waytogo:
Chris D. 12-04-2007, 09:22 PM What kind of car is that in your avatar SpeedFreek?
have any pictures of your custom fabrication skills at work?

Slick Nick 12-04-2007, 11:48 PM Hey you ever tuned a high performance N/A engine? And what kinda prices do you charge for prerunner bumpers?
Speed Freek 12-05-2007, 11:07 AM What kind of car is that in your avatar SpeedFreek?

It is a 67 Camaro SS with a P1-sc Pro Charger with a dual core spearco intercooler and Holley 950 multi point fuel injection making 623 Hp and 760 lb/ft of torque @ 23psi
It is so modded its ridiculous, and I dont have much in the way of pics during the build process  sorry. I need to take pics from now on......
Speed Freek 12-05-2007, 11:17 AM Hey you ever tuned a high performance N/A engine? And what kinda prices do you charge for prerunner bumpers?
Yes I have tuned MANY N/A cars they are easier without that extra variable (boost) but I do not have a dyno anymore.... I can be hired to tune your truck if you get some dyno time at a local shop there is one in San Marcos at paradise VW's....What mods you got??
As far as pre runner bumpers I would need to make one first (I have made some but not for a tacoma) and I could give a good price for one depending on thickness and bells and whistles, skid plate or whatever. Making the first one is the time consumer...but I can do it full custom. It would cost material plus my time at about 45 per hour and I work very efficiently, time depends on how complex you want it, I can make a simple one for pretty cheap..
Slick Nick 12-05-2007, 11:24 AM All of my mods are on my profile. And the ecu came with an LCD screen to plug into the obd-II port for instant programming. No laptop needed. I just am not that experienced when it comes to cam gear timing, air/fuel mixture and so on. My engine is going to need some serious tuning but I dont know if I have large enough injectors. They told me that with my cylinder head I need 330cc injectors but I have so many other mods that I think that I will run too lean. What do you think?

Just looked at your profile and that shouldnt be too hard, and about the injectors we just need to get that truck on the dyno for a baseline and work from there they might be just fine...once we get a baseline I tune it and watch injector cycle and make sure they are of the proper size. Then we mess with cam timing and ignition and so on. Your other mods shouldnt make your engine need that much more fuel but the dyno will tell all!!
Let me know if you want to do that and I can help you.
Slick Nick 12-05-2007, 11:34 AM Yeah Ill let you know...I will probably get to that point early Jan, you know after these damn holidays and all...
