Passenger Tire vs. Light Truck Tire

Is there any real difference in ride quality between a passenger tire and a light truck tire? The stocks are Goodyear RT/S P265/75/15 and of course the new tires I want don't come in that size so I would have to go to a Light Truck tire LT 31x10.5x15. Will I notice any difference in handling or ride quality?

Re: Passenger Tire vs. Light Truck Tire

Don't know the specifics, but yes...there are differences between P and LT tires. Personally, a truck used like a truck needs an LT in my opinion. LT have thicker sidewalls, heavier duty construction, have higher load rating, etc. LT will ride more firmly than a P tire due to its heavier construction and less sidewall flex, but if you get an unagressive tread, you'll probably hardly notice the difference in ride "quality" - I prefer a firm ride, so to each their own I guess. I think many LTs have a lower speed rating than Ps, but that is probably due to the tread pattern more than LT vs. P.
