Question Did your aftermarket wheels/tires affect your steering/handling?

I got 16x7 rims and Pirelli 215/60/R16 tires and my steering and handling isn't as good as stock was in the steering and handling department. Did going from stock to aftermarket affect your steering and handling?

Re: Did your aftermarket wheels/tires affect your steering/handling?

Which 16x7 wheels and Pirelli 215/60/R16 tires?

I have 225/55-16 BFGoodrich T/A KDW tires mounted to 16X7 Enkei RS-5 wheels which absolutely make the stock setup feel like a joke. Stock is horrible in the tacoma...no grip and sloppy handling. It's really weird that 16x7 wheels and Pirelli 215/60-16 tires didn't perform as well as stock.

Wider and lower profile tires (to a point) should do nothing else but increase the performance of your vehicle.

Re: Did your aftermarket wheels/tires affect your steering/handling?

After changing to 16X7 wheels and 225/55 series tires, my truck tends to catch easier when driving on roads with ruts in them. It's like the steering has a mind of its own.

17"x8.5 didn't affect my turning... or maybe it did... After I got my rims I took off my power steering cuz it kept leaking... ah well, small sacrifice...

The tires are the Pirelli P3000 model and the rims are Rage, Breaker series from discount tire.

Ive seen that an alignment may work after getting new tires and rims and whatnot....my friends truck would just want to change lanes on its own sometimes when he got new wheels but as soon as he got an alignment it stopped and easier to control

Re: Did your aftermarket wheels/tires affect your steering/handling?

I will try to get the alignment done soon. Can i tell just by looking at the truck to see if an alignment is needed? What does the alignment fix?
Also, how loose does your guys steering wheel feel when turning it?
If there is extra play in my steering wheel how do i fix that?
