2RZ-FE Vs.3RZ-FE

I know the 2R is 2.4L and the 3R is 2.7L. Are those two engines have the spec except the stroke? I would like to increase my 2.4L to 2.7L if I just can use the 2.7 crank and other assembly to make it happen. Any light would be awesome....

Re: 2RZ-FE Vs.3RZ-FE

I think you're on the right track. Besides the crank (which gives the bigger stroke)...there is also the balancer-something (I forgot what is called)....
I personally don't think it's a good idea. The reason why, you would gain hp. From 142 hp bump up to 150 hp (very minimal). You would also gain a bit of torque too, from a 160 (2RZ) to 172 (3RZ).....but....having a bigger stroke will affect RPM (decreasing it)....if you ever decide to boost it....it wouldn't be as rev-happy as it would with the 2RZ. Strenght-wise they are the same. Same tough MOFO....
A lot of folks that drag race actually de-stroke the 3RZ or bore and stroke the 2RZ it to 2.5-2.6 liter.....for happy revving...

Yeah, harmonic balancers, Otosan... but even the heads are the same- the cams are the same... the valves... all that... unless you're using one- why bother with it! the 2 and the 3 are both very good products...

I'm all VEEP'd now.

Re: 2RZ-FE Vs.3RZ-FE

there are good reasons to punch a motor out, like if you're trying to get max everything out of it by doing crazy mods (crank, rods, pistons, head work, crazy cams, etc, etc). spending $$$ to take a 2rz to 3rz specs is not worth it. take that money and make your 2rz fast

Re: 2RZ-FE Vs.3RZ-FE

I plan to boost the 2.4L. However its not the 2RZ, but the 2TZ from Previa. I dissambled the a spare motor yesterday and the rods are very beefy. I would assume it could handle 500-650 hp. I will get a confirmation on the pistons to verify if it is forged or not. Anyone have a used 2RZ head gasket I have try to fit into my 2TZ?
