Best Mods for 2000 Tacoma 4x4 5VZFE Under $700

Hey. I havea 2000 Tacoma TRD SR5 4X4 w/ the 3.4L V6. I am looking to put around $700 into the truck right now, and I would like to know what I should get to make the biggest HP gains.

Thanks!

swap the muffler, and get a header. THEN either build a cheap intake for about 60$ or spend over 150$ and buy one...if u have extra money, get a catback exhaust instead of the muffler..BUT I CAN TELL YA RITE NOW UR NOT GUNNA GET ALOT OF HP FOR 700$

TRY USLING THE SEARCH FEATURE, IT WILL ANSWER ALOT OF QUESTIONS and welcome to the forum

I have the BORLA cat back system already. As well as a deck modded stock intake.

What header should I get? Also, does the Venom or JET chip do anything?

Biggest HP gain for under $700 would have to nitrous. Money best spent for daily driving would have to be the "deckplate mod", headers & cat back exhaust. You'll gain some power (but not lots), and use up your $700. For a reliable daily driver though, that's what I'd start with.... Then save up for your blower.

Is there any particular place you'd recommend for a cheap NOS kit?

Headers-----
JBA, TRD, NWOR(northwest offroad specialities)

as for the Venom or Jet chip, dont waste your money, they do next to nothing

since you already have that borla exhaust I say just do the really cheap deckplate mod and elbow thingee, then keep that $700 and save for bigger and better stuff like Supercharger or Turbo

Re: Best Mods for 2000 Tacoma 4x4 5VZFE Under $700

i have the jet chip stage one on my 2.7 4 banger and it helped over most of the powerband, and just made it better overall...and raised the shift point from 4800 to 5000 and i beliecve it removed the revlimiter,,,,,, its not the kind of thing where u install and then ur like wow this is so powerful, it just helps overall with everyhting. i guess you could say it wakes it up

DONT WASTE UR TIME OR MONEY ON THE VENOM

5000? Yikes, you auto guys get ripped off!!!! Almost another 800 rpms that the 5spd can use...

NOT SPEAKING FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
I have heard that the Jet chip is overall a waste of money. For real power out of the 3.4, save up for the s/c.
