3.4 6 Cylinder Oil Capacity?

Ok so every time I go get my oil changed they charge me for an extra quart of oil. They say my truck takes 6 quarts, is this true or am I getting screwed every time? Thanks guys

I use 6 quarts every time I change mine but I have a slightly larger than stock filter. Manual calls for 5.5 quarts so I just add the other .5 quart to make up for tha larger filter.

First off you should NEVER pay a shop to change your oil ,, its just lazy and they use Generic oils and filters. well they charge you for a extra quart because after its is drained they run a quart threw to flush it out. The 5vz uses 6 quarts with a Jeep liberty 3.7 oil filter,, its 3 inches longer than the one for the 5vz ,,, ,, Most oil change shops say they use good oil but there gonna rip of some office working snob that does not wanta get dirty ,, thats just my 2 cents

technically, the v6 3.4 takes 5.8Qts, and most shops will charge you a set price for anything UP to & including 5 qts, and then as per extra needed.

thats why when I do my oil changes, I use a k&n filter, and mobil 1 oil (6qts), it costs me around $53.

Sounds about right I guess. Mine takes 6.5qts with an oil filter relocator so without it I'd assume 6qts.

my oil change was 28 with Castrol 5w30, so why would I want to do it myself?

Because you have the peace of mind knowing that everything was done right, with a good quality oil, filter was not reused, etc. You also know that the filter and drain plug are tightened properly, and not too tight or too loose. Speaking from experience here.

I use Fram PH8A filters on my 2rz and it increases the oil capacity to about 6 qts. The filter fits perfectly, was originally for a 70's or 80's F-150.
