I was our scewing around in the desert not too long ago and saw an abandoned bed shell. Sure it was all beat to hell and I probably wouldn't use it, but it you're gonna cut it up and re-fiberglass, etc, then It just might be perfect for ya. I'll have to go back and see if I can find it, and take measurements. Pretty sure is wasn't specifically for a taco, but as I recall it was the smaller size for a compact/midsize pickup.

I'll go look for it one of these days after work, and shoot you some pics...
(maybe I could bring it to a little "meeting" we have coming up...

EDIT: shoulda read the rest of the thread... nevermind...
BUT... if you still want it, I'll go back out and look for it....

but how exactly are you going to lock the cover down? my last tonneau cover weighed about as much as my truck, i didnt have it latched or locked down. just prayed it stayed on. but if i hit a dump or anything that thing would jump like 8 inches!!
Chuck Norris urine is also another form of the fountain of life..
Heard it cures cancer..

Tell ya what... I'll see if I can find it again, and I'll take some pics.
Then you tell me if you want it or not.

It won't exactly "fit" on the truck with the atv in the back, so it would have to be tied on... and I'm only hauling this thing one way...

If it wont fit a tacoma, dont sweat it

---
man, I'm a dumbass...

I had the larger panel just sitting on the back of the truck and thought I'd just drive
down the street to home depot because its only a block away and a 30mph zone tops..

at exactly 12mph, the fukker flew off like a styrofoam cup LOL
No real damage but man.. its a dead calm day and I was just cruizing..
No speed bumps or anything..

It mared up one section where it still needs to be trimmed anyways (top edge)..
So no biggie.. I'm just glad nobody was behind me..

I wasn't using my head on this one..

Just shows ya how super light is it so far!
check it..

I'm workin on it in stages..

I'd love to get it at least mocked up and mobil so i can use it for this weekend.

I'll start glassing it either tomorrow or wednesday..
more than likely wednesday..

More progress..
seems as tho I run out of daylight and steam soon thereafter.. Maybe I'm BiSolar
I got the front panel shaved down to fit the sides/edges of the bed..
I love this 1/8" panel, it cuts with a razor blade..

I had to cut the front edge of the bedliner off because it was causing it to ride up some..

I have everything duct taped into place so ti doesnt move and used painters tape to make sure I dont glue anything onto the bed
I cut roughly for the rear panel..
Once its all dry, I'll trim it some other time like I did the front panel..

I roughed it up for proper adhesive promotion

Then I whipped my cacker out and got busy shooting a bead..

before the adhesive I taped spacers to mock the space needed for the hinges..
I also used painters tape to ensure the glue wouldn't adhere to the other panel..

I maneuvered it into place and then hit it with my finish nailer to keep it in place..
got it all squared away and sat some weight on it..

underside view..

sence I was out of duct tape that I used as my 3rd and fouth hands..
I got the grey and hit the shirts with it because the tapes not happy..
a little less noticable

thats it for now..
I do want to say this.. Liquid nails wood adhesive SUCKS!.. Good thing I'm going to lay glass on this or I wouldn;t trust the stuff..

I ended up using some PL brand polyurethanepremium construction adhesive and this stuffs MONSTER!!!!

definatly the way to go on wood..
thats all I have for now..

Liquid Nails stays on the surface of the wood and doesn't dry hard and strong. Use a good grade exterior wood glue it will be stronger than the wood itself.

Why the joint and not one big piece?
