hi everyone, im pretty sure this has been answered before, sorry for wasting your time.
im planning on doing a 3/4 drop on my 04 tacoma. i going with a QA1 coilover mod (with brians adapter plates) in the front and 3" drop blocks rear and pull one leaf.
i know where to get the blocks, my question is where do i find the QA1 coilovers?? do they make coilovers specifically for tacoma or do i have to find one of another vehicle??
See my build thread, also you can do a search on here for QA1 coilover thread/part number thread. There are many different variants of the mod as far as spring height and rate. For yours I would recommend 8in spring and a spring rate of more than 550lbs. I am not sure what they offer anymore as it has been awhile for me. If they still have the 650lbs rate I would say those are your best bet.
Napa is a QA1 dealer too. I've been wanting to talk to QA1 and see what it would take for Streetacos to become a QA1 dealer. One thing I'm noticing from your post is you say you're going for a 3/4 drop, but mention a 3" block with leaf pulled. You're going to get about 3" from pulling a leaf, so this combo would put you at 6" in back, and with no cnotch, would have you slamming axle on every pebble you hit. Your axle will be about 1" away from the frame.
You should just stay with the 3" block and QA1 mod, and forget about the leaf mod. Or pull the leaf and run a 1" block, but a 95.5-04 Taco is still going to hit frame now and then even at 4" in back and no notch. Since SR's are geared more toward performance than the normal Taco's are, if it were me I'd do the QA1 mod since that'll be the best way to get the front to handle aggresive driving, and just go 3" in back so you'll be able to still drive fairly aggressive without hitting frame like if you were any lower.
Hi Brian :burnout:4-link is holding up like a beast! Heims don't like dust storms.. get kinda squeeky... nothing a little wash and red greasing can't fix though. /threadjack
blackedout_taco_stidham,
in your photo showing the front BJ flip, i noticed the upper ball joint bracket is on top of the upper control arm, which would leave a space inside the upper control arm that would need to be filled so it doesn't get crushed when you torque the bolts down. what did you use to fill that space? i have the BJ flip but I bolted the upper ball joint bracket into the stock location...... no wonder my caster has gone to SH*t. I've messed with those upper control arm shims 2 days in a row but to no avail. thanks for the help....
Washers, nuts, spacers...
Anything to keep that section filled so it doesn't crush when tightening it up.
