Some of you may have read about my experience with trying to get a carbon hood off eBay seller raceonworldwide and how badly that went. In order to avoid further hijinks, I went to Vividracing, a company that's been around for years and has built its fair share of fancy project cars. I didn't complete the order, deciding to wait off, and one of their sales reps emailed me. I mentioned I felt shipping was too costly and he gave me a better price. I ordered the hood from them last Tuesday(7/22/14) and received an invoice claiming that I would have a tracking number within 72 hours. I still did not have one by the weekend, so I emailed them and have received no response. I called the sales rep today and also their customer service department, I got no response. Some reading through a Porsche forum revealed that this is par for the course with them and several people have had to cancel orders and have their credit card companies cancel the payments. What a PITA! I hate dealing with the bank/card companies over the phone. So now I have yet another PITA to deal with because some A$$ES can't simply send you the product they took your money for.
Carbon fiber is a huuuuge waste of money on a truck of all things.. Just going for the look?
Just get a fiberglass hood from Dans Hoods.. His rep is excellent, so is his products..
Lightweight..Yup.. No need to hood pin it either, plenty beefy..
In all honesty, I had completely forgotten about DansHoods, silly me. I need to get on CT more often before I get rustier lol. I really just wanted the weight reduction, the thing will be paint matched to the truck with the carbon exposed only on the underside. I'm also going to cut a vent into it like I did with the Miata.
I ended up calling their main number and getting a representative on the line. I explained that it had been well over 72 hours (It had been 6 days) while controlling my tone as best I could. I was put on hold and then spoke to a nice lady named Simone. She had my original sales rep on the phone with VIS and she called me back within an hour and provided my tracking information for the hood. Major thanks to Simone for handling that when the boys dropped the ball.
