I bought some after market fenders for my taco. They are black "primered" from the factory. Do I need to sand off all that primer or just rough it up and paint? Thanks in advance.
Ive been painting the bed on my taco over the past few months yes prep is key take your time. Ive been using the duplicolor color match spray paint just take your time **** loads of wet sanding and polishing and it will look factory. If the primer is smooth and not scratched then theres no reason to rough it up ull just have to do way more sanding on the base coats
I have a question for ya. I'm trying to figure out what kind of options I have for a repaint. I have a 2000 TRD Xcab in Black. It's my toy and everyday driver. I've owned collector cars in the past and know how expensive a "real" paint job can be.
I will keep this Tacoma forever if possible, and it is constantly in a state of "rolling restoration." I like it nice, but it gets plenty of dirt, dings, scratches, etc.
Is there such a thing as "invincible" paint? I know it's not going to be KITT, but if I redo the paint, what's tough as nails, looks good, and hopefully break the bank? I'd like to fill in a bunch of dings/small dents and have it painted with something that will handle off road riding but still look good/glossy on the road after a wash.
I know people do they're own body work as I see people on the road with body filler sanded on there vehicles. How does somebody go about doing this? I'd like to fix all the dents in my Tacoma. Can you link a guide that you know of?
The first question to ask is 'How handy are you?' (with tools, etc.).
Body work isn't exactly rocket science, but there's a lot of craft required to do it right.
If you're looking to smooth out some dents you may need special tools (e.g., a dent puller).
If you're not familiar with what's involved, I'd suggest checking YouTube for any relevant videos to get an idea what's involved in the sort of repairs you want to make.
